Well, if you’re missin’ the good ol’ “Mentalist” show, don’t you worry! There’s a bunch of other series out there that’s mighty similar. You know, them ones with detectives who act all serious-like, but they got some real strange folks helpin’ ’em solve cases. Just like that Patrick Jane fella, with his sharp mind and all. Now, let me tell you, I done watched a few of ’em myself, so I know what I’m talkin’ about. Here’s a list of shows that might just fill that hole in your heart after “The Mentalist” ended.
1. Castle (2009–2016)
Now this one here, it’s got that smart detective, Rick Castle, who’s all serious-like and tryin’ to solve crimes, but he’s got this fancy writer fella, who’s always comin’ up with weird ideas. Sounds familiar, don’t it? Just like ol’ Patrick Jane! They both got a knack for readin’ folks, and let me tell ya, it sure makes for some funny situations. If you liked how “The Mentalist” mixed crime-solvin’ with a bit of humor, you’ll surely enjoy “Castle.” They both got that same kinda dynamic, where the serious detective and the oddball make a good team.
2. Bones (2005–2017)
Next up is “Bones,” another one where they solve all sorts of crime, but instead of a mentalist, ya got Dr. Brennan, who’s a bit like a robot when it comes to emotions. She’s all about the science, just like how Patrick Jane’s all about his tricks and observations. And then, she’s got this FBI fella, Booth, who’s all about his gut feelings. The two of ’em don’t always see eye to eye, but together, they make it work. You get that same kind of back-and-forth tension, and let me tell you, it’s mighty entertainin’!
3. Lie to Me (2009–2011)
If you liked how Patrick Jane could read people just by lookin’ at ’em, then you’ll love “Lie to Me.” This one’s about a fella named Dr. Cal Lightman who can tell when folks are lying, just by watchin’ their body language. He’s got a team of experts who help him out with these cases, and he’s always uncoverin’ the truth hidden behind the lies. It’s real similar to “The Mentalist” in how they deal with human behavior, and how the main character can almost read minds, if ya ask me!
4. Sherlock (2010–Present)
Now, if you ain’t watched “Sherlock,” then where ya been hidin’? This here show is as sharp as a tack, just like ol’ Patrick Jane. Sherlock Holmes, he’s a brilliant detective with all kinds of fancy tricks up his sleeve, and he’s got a friend, Dr. Watson, who helps him out. It’s a bit more fast-paced than “The Mentalist,” but the way Sherlock solves crimes using his wit and fancy deductions will surely remind you of Patrick Jane. There’s plenty of mind-bendin’ mysteries, and if you liked how “The Mentalist” keeps ya guessin’, you’ll love this one too.
5. Mindhunter (2017–2019)
If you’re in the mood for somethin’ a little darker, “Mindhunter” is a good pick. It’s based on real-life events, where a couple FBI agents go around talkin’ to serial killers to understand their minds and how they think. Now, it ain’t got no mentalists, but it’s real big on psychology, and let me tell ya, it’s just as creepy and intense as some of the darker moments in “The Mentalist.” It’s got that same “tryin’ to get into the mind of a criminal” vibe, but with a real-world twist.
6. Broadchurch (2013–2017)
This here show takes place in a small town where a young boy turns up dead, and now, two detectives are tryin’ to figure out who did it. It’s real emotional and intense, just like some of the episodes from “The Mentalist.” You ain’t gonna get a mind-reader like Jane here, but the mystery and suspense is thick enough to make ya sit at the edge of your seat. It’s got the same kinda feel when you’re watchin’ “The Mentalist,” where you just can’t stop tryin’ to figure out what’s gonna happen next.
7. The Blacklist (2013–Present)
Now, here’s one with a real clever fella who ain’t exactly a mentalist, but he sure knows how to play people. Raymond “Red” Reddington is a criminal mastermind who surrenders to the FBI and offers to help catch other criminals, but only if he works with Elizabeth Keen, a rookie agent. Just like “The Mentalist,” there’s a lot of twists and turns, and Red’s always one step ahead of everybody. It’s a real good mix of crime, mystery, and clever manipulation—just like Patrick Jane’s antics.
8. The Mentalist (2008–2015) – Of Course!
If you ain’t done watched the whole show yet, I reckon you should! It’s still one of the best around. Ol’ Patrick Jane, with all his clever tricks and that real cool mind of his, just knows how to keep you hooked from start to finish. Even if you’ve already watched it all, it’s worth revisitin’ now and then. The way he solves them cases, foolin’ folks left and right—well, that’s somethin’ you just can’t find anywhere else!
9. Hannibal (2013–2015)
This one here is a bit more on the creepy side, but if you like that psychological thriller kinda thing, you might want to give it a watch. “Hannibal” is about an FBI profiler and his relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who happens to be a serial killer. Now, you ain’t got no mind-readin’ like in “The Mentalist,” but you got plenty of mind games goin’ on. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little different, but still with the intense psychological vibes, this here’s a good choice.
So, there ya have it! A bunch of shows like “The Mentalist” that can keep you busy, tryin’ to solve mysteries and watchin’ all them clever folks work their magic. Whether you like crime, mind games, or a good ol’ psychological twist, there’s somethin’ on this list for ya!
