Alright, alright, let’s talk about them movies, the ones like that “Dictator” movie. You know, the one with that funny fella, Sacha Baron Cohen? Yeah, him. That movie, it was somethin’ else, eh? Made me laugh ’til my sides hurt. But you seen it, and now you want more, right? Like eatin’ peanuts, can’t stop at just one.
So, you’re lookin’ for movies like that “Dictator,” huh? Well, there’s a bunch, I tell ya. Some old, some new, some funny, some… well, less funny, but still about them dictators. It’s like they say, there’s more than one way to skin a cat, and there’s more than one movie about a crazy leader.
First off, there’s this oldie, “The Great Dictator”. Now, that one ain’t like Sacha Baron Cohen’s movie, not really. It’s got that Charlie Chaplin fella in it, you know, the one with the little mustache and the funny walk? He plays this barber who looks just like this dictator, this Hynkel fella. It’s funny, but it’s also got some serious stuff in it, about war and all that. Makes you think, you know? Not just laughin’ all the time.
- Funny Dictator Movies: If you want more laughs, there’s this movie called “Moon Over Parador”. It’s about this actor, Dreyfuss, who has to pretend to be a dictator. Sounds crazy, right? Well, it is! Lots of silly stuff happens, people gettin’ confused, and all that. Good for a laugh, that one. Then there’s that 2012 “Dictator” movie with Sacha Baron Cohen, you already know about that one. He’s a wild one, that fella.
- Serious Dictator Movies: But if you want somethin’ a little more serious, there’s this older “Dictator” movie from 1935. It’s a drama, not so much funny. About history and all that. I ain’t seen it myself, but I heard it’s good if you like that kind of stuff. You know, the learnin’ kind of movies. They ain’t always fun, but sometimes you gotta learn somethin’, right?
Now, where to find these movies? Well, you got your Netflix, your Amazon, your iTunes… all them fancy things. I don’t know much about them, my grandkids use them all the time. They say you can find just about any movie you want on them. There’s also this place, Filmaffinity, they say you can get recommendations and stuff. And Letterboxd, whatever that is. Sounds complicated to me, but those young folks, they know how to use it all.
And get this, there’s like, 65 movies or somethin’ that are kinda like “The Dictator.” Sixty-five! Can you believe it? That’s a whole lotta dictators, even if they’re just pretendin’. Some of them are comedies, some are dramas, some are probably just plain bad. But hey, you never know ’til you try, right? Like tryin’ a new recipe, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s a disaster.
One thing I heard is that the Sacha Baron Cohen “Dictator” movie was supposed to be kinda like this book about Saddam Hussein. You know, that fella from Iraq? Yeah, him. But then they said it wasn’t really based on the book. Hollywood folks, they’re always changin’ things up, you can’t ever really tell what’s true and what’s not.

Leave that to the folks in Hollywood, they’re good at makin’ up stories. You just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. And maybe have some popcorn while you’re at it. Popcorn always makes a movie better, don’t you think?
