Well, I reckon this “A Nearly Normal Family” is one of them books where ya get all excited at first, thinkin’ it’s gonna be somethin’ mighty interestin’, but by the time ya get through it, you feel like you just wasted a whole lotta time, like watchin’ a cow that ain’t never gonna give milk. Ya see, it’s got a real predictable story right from the start, and nothin’ much surprises ya along the way. Now, this book, it’s about a young girl, 18 years old, named Stella. She gets herself in a real pickle, accused of killin’ her lover. That right there is somethin’ to grab your attention, I’ll give ya that. But after a while, it just feels like you’re goin’ around in circles, lookin’ at things that don’t make much sense. You got her parents, all perfect on the outside, tryin’ to protect her. They’re willin’ to do anything to save their baby, even if it means tearing their own family apart. Ain’t that somethin’?
The story starts off with a lot of promise, but before long, you realize it’s all just smoke and mirrors. It has a mystery in it, sure, but it ain’t enough to keep ya hooked. The whole thing feels like it’s been stretched too thin, like dough that’s been rolled out too much. The author, he told folks that he got the idea for this story when he was thinkin’ about what it might be like raisin’ young girls. But in the end, it don’t matter what the idea was; what matters is how it all comes together, and well, let’s just say it didn’t quite make it to where it shoulda.
The book is set in Lund, Sweden, a place that’s got its charm, but the setting don’t do much for the story. They tried to make it all atmospheric, with the sights and sounds of the place, but it don’t quite hit the mark. I reckon they tried to make it all fancy with the look of it, but it still feels like somethin’ is missin’. I can tell you right now, it ain’t one of them books that keeps ya up at night, wonderin’ what happens next. No sir, it’s just a quick read, somethin’ to pass the time if you ain’t got nothin’ better to do.

It’s just a quick binge, somethin’ to fill a gap, but nothin’ that’s gonna stick with ya for long. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ deep and meaningful, you might wanna look elsewhere.
So there ya have it. If you’re lookin’ for a big ol’ twist and turnin’ mystery, you might find a little somethin’ here. But if you’re expectin’ somethin’ that’ll knock your socks off, well, you might end up disappointed. It’s a book that’s nearly good, but not quite.
