Next, I learned about tries. A try is like scoring a big point in rugby. When a player touches the ball down in the opponent’s end – zone, it’s a try. It’s kind of like a touchdown in American football. I thought that must be so exciting for the players when they score a try.
After that, I looked into conversions. After a try, the team can attempt a conversion. It’s like a kick to get some extra points. The kicker has to kick the ball through the goal – posts. I tried to picture myself as the kicker, feeling the pressure to make that kick.
Finally, I learned about penalties. If a player breaks the rules, the other team gets a penalty. It’s like a punishment for the rule – breaker. I thought it was fair that there are rules to keep the game in order.
Well, it didn’t exactly take me 5 minutes. I got a bit distracted by some cool rugby videos while I was learning. But in the end, I did manage to learn these basic rugby terms. Now, when I watch a rugby game, I can actually understand what’s going on. It’s like unlocking a new level of watching sports!
