I decided to check out the obituaries at Niewoehner Funeral Home in Rugby, ND. First, I hopped in my car and drove over there. It’s not too far from where I live, so it didn’t take long.

When I got to the funeral home, I walked inside. The place was kind of quiet and had that serious funeral home vibe. I went up to the front desk and asked the lady there about the obituaries. She was nice and told me they usually post them on a bulletin board in the lobby.
I walked over to the bulletin board and started looking through the obituaries. There were a bunch of them, printed on white paper. I started reading one by one. Some of them had pictures of the deceased, which made it feel more real.
I noticed that the obituaries had basic info like the person’s name, age, when they passed away, and a little bit about their life. Some had stories about their hobbies, like one guy loved fishing and playing cards with his friends. Others talked about their family, how many kids and grandkids they had.
As I was reading, I couldn’t help but think about how short life can be. These were people who had lived their lives, had their own joys and sorrows, and now they were gone. It was a bit of a sobering experience.
After spending about an hour looking through the obituaries, I thanked the lady at the front desk and left the funeral home. On the way back home, I kept thinking about those people I read about. It made me appreciate my own life more and realize that we should make the most of every day.

So, that’s my little adventure to check out the obituaries at Niewoehner Funeral Home. It might seem like a strange thing to do, but it was actually quite eye – opening.
