As the game time got closer, I turned on the TV. I sat on my couch, with a bag of chips in one hand and a can of soda in the other. I was glued to the screen, waiting for the tip – off. The players ran onto the court, and the referee threw the ball up for the tip – off. My eyes were wide open, following every move of the players.
Then, in a flash, a player made a dash towards the basket, took a shot, and swish! The ball went in. I jumped up on my couch, spilling some chips in the process. I quickly looked at the screen to see who it was. It was this young player from the underdog team. I was like, “Wow, didn’t see that coming!”
After the game, I went back to the sports app again. I read the post – game reports, and there were some experts talking about how that first basket might have set the tone for the rest of the game. Some said it gave the underdog team a boost of confidence. I was nodding my head while reading those comments, thinking about how a single basket at the start could have such an impact on the whole game.
