Well, I recently got my hands on NBA 2K25 and decided to test out its controls. First off, I fired up the game and dived right into the main menu. I clicked around, looking for the options to customize the controls, ’cause I like things my way.

I started with a quick exhibition game. When I took control of my player, I immediately noticed how responsive the movement keys were. I was dribbling up and down the court, and every press of the button made my player do exactly what I wanted. For example, when I wanted to speed up my dribble, a simple tap of the right button got me going faster.
Then came the shooting part. I aimed for the hoop and pressed the shoot button. The way the game showed the shooting meter was pretty cool. It gave me a good sense of how hard or soft I needed to shoot. I made a few shots right off the bat, which made me feel pretty good about the controls.
Defensively, things were just as smooth. I could easily switch between players when the opponents passed the ball. I was able to jump and block shots by pressing the right buttons at the right time. It felt like I was really on the court, trying to stop the other team from scoring.
Next, I tried out some of the more advanced moves. I did a spin move by using a combination of buttons, and it worked like a charm. My player spun around the defender and got to the basket for an easy layup. It was so much fun to execute these moves and see them work in the game.
I also checked out the controls for calling plays. I could select different offensive and defensive plays from the menu during the game. It was easy to navigate through the options and pick the play I wanted. And when I called a play, my teammates actually followed it, which was pretty neat.

After playing a few more games, I started to notice some minor issues. Sometimes, when I was trying to do a complex dribbling move, the controls felt a little bit sticky. It was like the game didn’t quite register my input right away. But overall, it didn’t happen too often, so it didn’t ruin the experience for me.
To sum it up, the controls in NBA 2K25 are mostly great. They’re easy to learn and use, and they make the game really immersive. Sure, there are a few small glitches, but they’re not enough to stop me from having a blast playing the game. If you’re a fan of NBA 2K games, you’ll probably enjoy the controls in this latest version.
