Well, I was kinda bored one day and thought, “Why not give Suny Brockport football a shot?” So I started off by signing up for the try – outs. It was a hassle, filling out all those forms and getting the physical done, but I managed to get through it.
When the try – out day came, I was nervous as hell. There were all these big, tough guys there, looking like they could crush me. But I told myself, “Just do your thing.” We started with some basic warm – ups, like jogging around the field and doing some stretching. I was trying to keep up with everyone, but my legs were feeling a bit wobbly at first.
Then came the drills. We did passing drills, where I had to throw the ball to my teammates. I’m not the best at throwing, and I messed up a couple of times. But I kept at it. The coaches were yelling at us, telling us to do it faster, do it better. It was intense!
After the passing drills, we moved on to running plays. I had to learn all these different formations and routes. It was like learning a whole new language. But I tried my best to remember everything. I ran as fast as I could, dodging the other players and trying to catch the ball.
During the scrimmage part, it was a real battle. The other team was pushing hard, and we were too. I got tackled a few times, and it hurt like crazy. But I got back up every time. I even managed to make a few good plays, like blocking a guy and helping my teammate score a touchdown.
After the try – outs were over, I was exhausted. I was lying on the field, breathing hard. I didn’t know if I’d made the team or not. But then the coach came over and told me I was in. I was so excited! I couldn’t believe it.
Since then, I’ve been practicing with the team regularly. We have these early – morning practices, which suck because I’m not a morning person. But it’s worth it. I’ve made some great friends on the team, and we’re like a big family. We support each other during games and practices.
The games are the best part. The stadium is filled with people cheering, and it’s so loud. When we score a touchdown, the whole team goes wild, and the crowd goes crazy too. It’s an amazing feeling.
So, is Suny Brockport football worth playing? Hell yeah! It’s tough, it’s tiring, but it’s also a whole lot of fun. If you’re thinking about it, I’d say give it a try. You might just end up loving it like I do.
