The Wild Goose Chase Begins
Started simple. Went straight to the biggest, most popular modding site everyone talks about. You know the one. Searched for “Steve Kerr cyberface”. Tapped my fingers for like five minutes… nothing. Maybe I spelled it wrong? Tried “Kerr face”, “Warriors coach mod”, “2K23 Steve Kerr”. Zip. Nada. Just a bunch of player cyberfaces and weird roster edits. Total waste of time. Felt like searching for a needle in a haystack full of other needles that weren’t Steve Kerr.
Digging Deeper – Obscure Forums
Alright, Plan B. Hit up some smaller forums, the ones dedicated purely to 2K modding. Places I haven’t visited in ages. Signed in with my ancient account, scrolled through pages and pages of threads. People were asking where to find it, but hardly anyone was answering! Found one guy saying he saw it on “that site nobody uses anymore”. Gee, helpful. Knew which dumpster fire he meant though. Reluctantly went there.
- Forum #1: Just threads complaining about cyberfaces not working. Dead ends.
- Forum #2: Saw a “Steve Kerr face” thread! Got excited… clicked it. Page couldn’t load. Classic.
- Forum #3: Finally, buried in page 7 of a mega-thread, someone dropped a name. “Check [Redacted Modding Site Name] uploads, user ‘[Famous Modder Name]DOT’ might have it.” Finally! A clue!
The Sketchy Payoff
Rushed over to the site mentioned. Found [Famous Modder Name]DOT’s profile. Searched his uploads. Scrolled… and scrolled… annnd scrolled. Saw like 500 cyberfaces. My eyes started crossing. Used the profile search bar – typed “Kerr”. Two entries popped up! Jackpot! Grabbed the latest upload. Download button was tiny and hidden between flashy ads for basketball shoes. Felt shady, but I clicked it. Waited. Held my breath. File downloaded. Unzipped it. Crossed my fingers, dropped the .iff files into the mods folder.
Fired up 2K23, loaded MyLeague… navigated to the Warriors staff… BAM! There was Steve Kerr! Finally! Actually looked pretty decent. Mission accomplished, but man, what a journey. Took way longer than it should’ve.
Why This Sucks
Honestly, why’s it this hard? You’d think a guy as famous as Kerr would be easy to find. Nope. Stuff ends up scattered all over:
- On huge mod sites, it gets buried instantly.
- On small forums, info rots. Links break. Sites vanish.
- You rely on some helpful stranger remembering to post the creator’s name in the right thread.
- Then you gotta hope the mod creator didn’t delete it or move it somewhere else.
It’s like a digital scavenger hunt. Fun for like five minutes, then it just gets annoying. Makes you appreciate the modders who do post things clearly. Wish more people followed that lead.
