So last Saturday, the Mount Union football game kicked off at 2 PM, and I was stuck in traffic halfway across town. Knew I’d miss kickoff but needed live updates like oxygen. Started scrambling like a headless chicken at red lights.

My Dumb First Attempt
First I punched “Mount Union football score today” into my phone browser. Big mistake. Page loaded slower than cold molasses on a winter day. Got some sketchy betting site with 57 pop-up ads instead of actual scores. Almost threw my phone out the window.
The Social Media Trap
Switched tactics and opened Twitter. Searched #MountUnionFootball and instantly regretted it. My feed flooded with:
- Random fans yelling “GO PURPLE RAIDERS!!” with zero game info
- A dude livestreaming his nachos
- Some bot account spamming crypto links every 3 seconds
Complete waste of time.
Finding the Actual Solution
Finally remembered the NCAA app gathering dust on my home screen. Opened it, went straight to Division III scores section. Had to tap through:
- Conference selector (picked OAC)
- Scrolling past 12 other games
- Finally found Mount Union vs. Heidelberg
Scoreboard auto-refreshed every 90 seconds with:

- Quarter & clock counting down
- Drive summary (“MU ball on OWN 35”)
- Last play update (“Incomplete pass – 3rd down”)
My Setup Now
Changed two things for next game:
- Set NCAA app score alerts specifically for Mount Union
- Created Twitter list with ONLY these accounts:
- @MountUnionFB
- @OACsports
- Local sports reporter who actually tweets play-by-play
Bonus trick: Keep phone plugged in during games. Battery drains faster than a linebacker chasing QB when that app refreshes constantly.
