So I got this question from a follower last week asking about 2024 football card prices. Man, I was curious myself! I hadn’t really checked my collection lately. Figured it was a great chance to actually put together a proper, up-to-date guide and document how I did it. Simple as that.

First Thing’s First: Figuring Out Where the Old Prices Stood
I dug out my old notes from maybe late 2023. Dusted off my collection binders too. Started flipping through, looking at the bigger names – rookie cards, the popular vets, some older stuff I have. I jotted down what I thought I remembered them being worth back then. Immediately saw a problem: lots of scribbled numbers, question marks, and “????” where I clearly hadn’t checked in ages. Some things just felt off. No real system, super outdated – boy was that annoying.
The Big Hunt Begins: Tracking Down Live Numbers
Okay, time hit the pavement, well, the internet pavement at least. No single magic site tells you everything straight up, you gotta dig. Here’s how I rolled:
- Scoured eBay’s “Sold” Listings: This is KEY. Forget what people are asking – I searched the card names and versions, filtered for “Sold Items” only. Clicked through actual completed sales to see what folks really paid, fresh in early-to-mid 2024. Did this for hours!
- Checked Several Major Card Shops & Pricing Sites: Looked at a bunch of the big, trusted online sellers. They usually price based on recent sales too. Cross-referenced prices for the same card across multiple places. If three sellers have a card priced around $50, and sold listings confirm it, that’s usually solid.
- Peeked at Fan Forums & Groups: Not for hard numbers, but to get a vibe. Are people buzzing about certain guys? Seeing panic selling? Or hype building? Doesn’t give you the $ amount, but tells you if a price might be rising or falling soon. Adds context.
Filling My Own Gaps & Building the List
Found some cool rookies I didn’t know much about! My old list was missing a bunch of the 2023 draftees who popped off this past season. Added them in pronto. Also found newer parallels and inserts that popped up since late 2023 – autos, numbered cards, the flashy stuff. Updated values for the mainstays too – some vets dipped hard, others held steady, rookie cards for guys who blew up? Way up!
Putting My Football Card Price Guide Together
Started super simple in a spreadsheet. Columns: Player Name, Card Year & Brand (like ‘Panini Prizm’), Card Type/Auto/Parallel/Serial Number, then the big one: Current Value Estimate (Early 2024). For each card on my list, I dropped in the price range I felt confident about based on all that digging. Made notes too, like “Hard to find comps, this is a decent average” or “Check back often, price moving fast”. Tried to cover all positions and the key names you’d actually care about pricing.
What Did I Actually Get Done?
After like two days of clicking, searching, and note-taking:

- Solid price ranges for around 50 core players & rookies – the ones people ask about most.
- Separated notes on base cards, autos, rookies, and common parallels.
- Clear notes showing where those prices came from (mainly eBay sales).
- A brutal understanding that prices can shift fast, especially now during the off-season hype!
So yeah, that’s my 2024 football card price guide adventure. Not perfect, but way better than flying blind or using last year’s numbers. The main takeaway? Recent eBay sold listings are king. You gotta put in the legwork if you want numbers you can kinda trust. Gonna revisit this myself in a few months!
