Well, let me tell you about my experience with Riverside High School football. First off, I got involved in this whole thing when I heard about a volunteer opportunity to help out with the team.

I started by showing up at the practice field. I remember the first day, it was a bit chaotic. The coach was yelling out instructions, and the players were running around like headless chickens. I jumped right in and started helping with setting up the cones and gear. Grabbing the cones one by one and placing them in the right spots on the field.
As the practices went on, I started to get to know the players. I helped them with some basic drills, like passing and catching. I’d stand there, throw the ball to them, and shout out tips like “Keep your eyes on the ball!” or “Follow through with your arm!”
Game days were a whole different story. I arrived early to help with the final preparations. I filled up the water coolers and made sure all the equipment was in place. Once the game started, I was on the sidelines, cheering the players on and keeping an eye on things.
There were some tough games, where the other team was really good. But the players on our team never gave up. They fought hard, tackled their opponents, and ran down the field as fast as they could. And when we finally won a game, it was an amazing feeling. Everyone jumped up and hugged each other. It was like a big family celebration.
Looking back on this experience, it was really rewarding. I got to be a part of something bigger than myself. I learned a lot about football, but more importantly, I saw the power of teamwork and determination. These players were willing to put in the hard work, face challenges, and never back down. It’s something that I’ll always remember and take with me in life.
