For example, Kawhi Leonard has some crazy steal numbers, and he’s always been known for his lockdown defense. Paul George also has some solid defensive stats over the years.
Next, I watched a bunch of old games on TV. I mean, stats are one thing, but seeing how they play in real – time is another. I watched how they guarded their opponents, how they moved their feet, and how they used their bodies to block shots and disrupt passes. Scottie Pippen was just amazing to watch on defense. He could guard multiple positions and was always in the right place at the right time.
I also talked to some other NBA fans. I went to the local sports bar and chatted with guys there. We argued back and forth about who was the best. Some of them were die – hard LeBron fans and thought he was the greatest defensive small forward. They said his size and strength gave him an edge on defense.
